Huntsville, Alabama has become home to many federal agencies. Redstone Arsenal’s 38,000 acres first housed NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and the U.S. Army Missile Command in the early 1960’s. The Army Corps of Engineers, DCMA/DCAA as well as other Department of Defense agencies have had a long-standing presence in our city. During the 1995 – 2005 Base Realignment and Closure process Redstone Arsenal welcomed the arrival of the new agencies to Huntsville which includes the Missile Defense Agency, the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center, The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, and the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Because of the high level of Government procurement activity in the area, most of the major Government contractors have facilities in Huntsville and numerous small businesses are enjoying success in the area. With all this local contracting activity, the Huntsville Chapter has a very strong and diverse membership base, and we have many government and industry experts to draw from in offering educational opportunities to the contract management community.
